The River is Waiting

Corby Ledbetter is a mess. He lost his job, became the full-time caregiver for twin children and his marriage is suffering. He turns to alcohol to numb the pain until the absolutely unimaginable happens. Corby finds himself sentenced to years in prison. While he is incarcerated, Corby endures absolute horrors, but also finds friendship and strength. An incredible story that made me audibly gasp multiple times, cry and believe in the power of the human spirit. A must read!. Top of my list for the year.
A Great Big Beautiful Life

A perfect summer beach read with loads of romance, sizzling family drama and a plot that immediately pulls you in. Hayden and Alice are both vying to write the memoir of a Hollywood icon. In their quest for the job of a lifetime, they find more than they were looking for and some insane family secrets. Quick, easy to read and delightfully entertaining. Add this one to your beach bag.
The Poppy Fields

How wonderful would it be to sleep through the grieving process? Or is the universal process of muddling through the intense pain essential to moving forward? The Poppy Fields is a controversial new therapy that puts patients to sleep for a mont. When they wake up the pain of their grief is gone. Four strangers’ lives collide when their plane is cancelled and they realize all four of them are heading to the Poppy Fields for varying reasons they slowly reveal. Their journey west provides them all with hope, healing and self-discovery. An impressive dive into the universal experience of grief. You’ll be thinking about this book for a long time.
Atmosphere

This is one of my favorite books of the summer so far. In typical Jenkins Reid fashion, she has you laughing and crying by the end. Joan has always wanted to be an astronaut and is chosen from thousands to be one of the first women scientists in NASA. Joan starts training aside a group of talented individuals and they forge strong friendships. Right before her first flight into space, Joan finds the long awaited love of her lifetime. This story moved me to tears in a way I didn’t expect – powerful, deeply moving and a romance for the ages, this book is one you must read this summer.
Parents Weekend

It’s Parents Weekend at SCU and five students go missing on the heels of the death of another student. The families all bring their own experiences to the frantic search for their children, which are complicated and troubled. A fun mystery that will keep you turning pages to the very end.
